Shutterstock - With over 11 million images, SS has the biggest inventory of images for desginers with a subscription-based program instead of the typical pay-per-image option of most other sites. For Photographers it's by far the most lucrative of all sites and the forums are quite active and helpful.
Dreamstime - DT has close to 9 million images. For designers, it has the most generous free image section on the Web. It's a friendly community and well worth investing the time for extra income.
IstockPhoto - IS was the instigator of the microstock photography movement. They now have the 3rd biggest image library and work on a pay-per-image concept.
You have to be an exclusive member (selling your images only on Istock) or it will create some frustration with small weekly upload limits, very long image review times and time-consuming uploading and keywording systems. It's still one of the top 5 income generators so well worth uploading your images to.
Fotolia = Inovation
It's a pay-per-image concept. And has grown quite fast in the last year due to photographer upload incentives. FT brings good income to photographers.
Their upload features are very user-friendly.
123rf - 123RF is carving its place among the microstock leaders on the Web. It offers both per image and subscription downloads.
It still has to work on advertizing to draw in more clients. Photographer income is roughly 30% of Dreamstime or Fololia.
CanStockPhoto - My last personal bet. CanStockPhoto has almost 2 million images and I'm starting to make some money in this site and have some good expectations about the future... More news soon.
